The Louisiana Engineering Advancement Program is happy to announce the expansion of the LEAP Summer Scholars Program (SSP) to include the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. This new addition will be a residential competitive and intensive two-week honors program for students who are entering the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in the fall of 2007. Students must currently be in the fifth, sixth, or seventh grade. Students will be selected by a committee based on the following criteria:
In addition, student selection is based on their interest in the Program and willingness to: By making this opportunity available, we hope to encourage more students to strive to reach their goals and become successful, productive citizens, by providing an introduction to STEM education and careers, team work, communication and other opportunities and experiences that are not normally available to them. In addition, we hope to prepare more underrepresented members of the community to pursue careers in engineering, science, math and technology.
