The four digit number system works as follows:
0000 level courses - Courses whose first digit is 0 do not carry degree credit.
1000 level courses - FRESHMAN LEVEL OR BEGINNING SUBJECTS
2000 level courses - SOPHOMORE LEVEL SUBJECTS
3000 level courses - JUNIOR-SENIOR LEVEL SUBJECTS
May normally be taken only after the student has earned a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit.
4000 level courses - JUNIOR-SENIOR LEVEL SUBJECTS
Same restriction as for 3000 level subjects. Courses at the 4000 level may be taken for Graduate Degree Credit under certain circumstances.
6000 level courses - GRADUATE LEVEL SUBJECTS
NOT open to undergraduate students. NO exceptions!
7000 level courses - THESIS RESEARCH
